GEMDESIRE creates one-of-a-kind jewelry around the color, character and natural form of Australian opal.
Our approach
The stone begins the design.
Rather than asking a natural opal to fit a predetermined shape, we observe its play of color, silhouette and inclusions, then build a considered setting around what is already there.

Shipping & returns

Dispatch
In-stock pieces are usually prepared within 2–4 business days. Bespoke and resized pieces receive an individual completion estimate.
Australian delivery
Complimentary tracked shipping is available for eligible Australian orders. Express options appear at checkout where available.
International orders
Tracked international delivery is calculated at checkout. Local duties, taxes and import fees remain the recipient’s responsibility.
Returns
Eligible unworn, unaltered pieces may be requested for return within 14 days of delivery. Bespoke, engraved and resized pieces are final sale.
Opal care
Treat opal as a precious natural material.
Opal contains water within its structure and is softer than many familiar gemstones. Avoid sudden temperature changes, prolonged dryness and hard impact.
Wear thoughtfully
Remove your piece before exercise, gardening, bathing, swimming or household cleaning. Put jewelry on after cosmetics and fragrance.
Clean gently
Use a soft damp cloth and mild soapy water when needed. Never use ultrasonic or steam cleaners, abrasives or harsh chemicals.
Store separately
Keep the piece in its protective pouch away from direct heat and sunlight. Separate it from harder gemstones that may scratch the surface.

Our product descriptions identify the stone type and any known treatment. The current collection focuses on natural Australian opal.
Will my piece look exactly like the photographs?+
The listed one-of-a-kind piece is the piece you receive. Opal color can appear different as lighting and viewing angle change.
Can a ring be resized?+
Some settings can be resized within a limited range. Contact the studio before ordering so we can assess the individual design.
Do you create bespoke pieces?+
Yes. Bespoke work begins with a conversation about the person, occasion, preferred opal character, metal and budget.
